Coach Sam Bronswick Way was dedicated in 2016
Sam Bronswick was the very inspirational football head coach at Lane Tech College Prep High School for 15 years. During his tenure as Head Coach he won a city championship in 1985, state semifinals in 1980, and state quarterfinals in 1989. The year he retired he was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993.
Sam grew up in Chicago, attended Marshall High School and played football at Northern Illinois University. His son, Bob, joined him as assistant coach at Lane Tech. Sam was known for his truly remarkable way of relating to the players. He gave them, and received from them, great respect. He could identify talent and shaped players to bring out their best. His love of the game and dedication motivated everyone who knew him on and off the field.
